Drought-loving plants find their place in our rock garden. Cacti are the best-known representatives of succulents, although they make up only a small part of all existing species. 

This place is dedicated to all shade loving plants. We currently count more than 60 species and around 30 different types of orchids that we have found in the region. We collect them for preservation and multiplying purposes. Most of the species have their origin in our finca. Whenever we see fallen or cut trees on our way we collect them. Other orchids we received from friends as offshoots from existing plants.

The heart of our project was originally the cocoa forest, which has now grown into a more complex food forest. Here, a wide variety of fruit and wood trees, useful and medicinal plants form a species-rich biotope.

Many tropical plants are said to have powerful medicinal properties. We particularly want to preserve the plants that are native to Nicaragua and have been used in traditional medicine, but we also collect well-known medicinal plants from all over the world.

Close to the house various trees provide us with fruit all year round. In addition to common tropical plants like bananas, citrus trees and coconut palms, you can also find more unusual species such as star fruit, red mombin plums (Jocote), rambutan, cinnamon, allspice or suriname cherries.

What would a garden be without flowers? Of course, we have also created areas where plants with marvelous leaves and flowers decorate our facilities.
